SALEM, Ore. -- Friday was the last day to mail in an Oregon election 2008 ballot.
Secretary of State Bill Bradbury says he thinks Oregon will set a record for voter turnout this year.
His prediction came as the latest tally showed the rate of mail ballot returns is running slightly ahead of this time in the 2004 presidential campaign.
Ballots can still be dropped off until 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 4.
That race between President Bush and Sen. John Kerry produced the second-highest turnout in Oregon history at 86.4 percent.
The all-time high dates back to 1960, when 86.5 percent of registered Oregon voters cast ballots in the Nixon-Kennedy race.
