..Gingerbread Circus..

On Thursday evening at the Ritz Carlton Holiday Open House, pastry artist Mae Cavazos unveiled her masterpiece creation—a tribute to Longboat legend Howard C. Tibbals, the artist and creator of the miniature circus at the Ringling Circus Museum created more than 50 years ago.

Cavazos creation is a 12-foot long by eight-foot tall by five-foot wide Gingerbread Circus. It took a year to design and features about 235 characters and circus performers. Each hand-crafted piece was created out of edible, colorful gum paste and fondant.

“It was a labor of love and is something I hope will truly bring joy to everyone who sees it,” said Cavazos.
