Statewide Talent Contest

This classic State Fair contest will be held on Center Stage on Sunday, September 6, 2009. This statewide talent contest is the culmination of talent contests held at Oregon County Fairs throughout the summer. Each participating county will send their top candidates in one of three categories: Children (ages 5-9), Youth (ages 10-17) and Adults (ages 18 and over), to the Oregon State Fair to compete. Come see contestants perform throughout the day!

How to Participate

Contestants must participate in a county fair talent contest with winners to be selected by their perspective county fair in order to advance to the Statewide Talent Contest. Individual county fair rules determine whether contestants in the county fair contest must be residents of the county or not.

Veterans’ Day USO-Style Show

Tribute to Veterans

This special show is a recreated USO-Style show with music and comedy acts, designed to entertain and pay tribute to all who have served our country in the United States military. There will be performances by Richard Probasco, The Dennis Mitchell Band with The Kingsmen, The Brown Sisters, Two Sisters & A Mister, Ken & Malinda Buckles, Barrie Malcolm & Bill Haugen, and more.

After the entertainers have finished their acts, Ken Buckles will call up all the Veterans in attendance from each war/conflict so that the audience may recognize them for their service and sacrifice. The State Honor Guard will post Colors during the USO Style Show.

This event is hosted by Remembering America's Heroes, a non-profit organization based in Milwaukie, Oregon.
